Discover the quiet satisfaction of carving into clay in this immersive one-day workshop exploring surface decoration as both a creative practice and a meditative process. Working on leather-hard clay, you'll learn techniques including sgraffito, slip painting, carving, and slip inlay while exploring design composition, carving tools, and methods for layering color and texture to create richly detailed surfaces that invite both the eye and the hand.
 
PLEASE BRING:  Up to three leather-hard pieces (wheel-thrown or handbuilt), under 8 inches (tall or wide) ready for decoration, or purchase from our prepared workshop forms :

Whether you're drawn to bold graphic designs or delicate organic textures, you'll leave with new techniques—and a deeper appreciation for the tactile, contemplative process of transforming clay one carved line at a time.
 
Skill Level: All levels welcome. Basic clay experience is helpful, but not required.
 
Refund and cancellation policy: Workshops require a 10 day notice for a refund minus $25 for processing fees that we cannot recover. For workshops with a waitlist, we will refund you up to 24 hours before class if we can fill your seat.
