Instructor: Sara Kagan Real

Handbuilding with clay is an 7 session course (no class on July 4) designed to give participants a chance to explore handbuilding techniques through pinching, coiling, and working with slabs. Students will deepen their knowledge about clay properties and character through hands-on demonstrations by an instructor and  suggested and self-guided projects.  Students will focus on making fuctional pottery such as mugs, bowls, vases and also tackling more advanced creations such as pitchers and butter dishes.

The class comes with a bag of clay, access to a slab roller, banding wheels, and some specialized tools. Additional clay can be purchased at the studio. Students have access to the studio during Open Studio hours for self-guided practice time.

Students will need to bring their own tools, apron (if desired) and a hand towel.

This class is a hybrid of both beginners and more advanced students.
