This hands-on 7 session course is a multi-level wheel throwing class open to all skill levels. Whether you’re brand new to the wheel or ready to refine your technique, this class offers something for every level of potter.
Beginners will learn the fundamentals—centering, pulling, trimming, and glazing—while more experienced students can focus on improving form, consistency, and exploring new shapes or surface treatments.
Throughout this course, you will be guided step by step, with expert demonstrations and personalized attention to help you develop your pottery skills. Individual instruction allows each student to progress at their own pace in a supportive, studio environment.
This class includes: up to 25 pounds of clay, access to our studio glazes and slips, and unlimited access to our studio during open studio hours. Students may stay after class to continue practicing.
Students will need to provide their own tools, apron, and hand towel.

Tools can easily be ordered from Clay Planet in San Jose or picked up in person at Clay People in Richmond.
Students should purchase the following tools for class:
Y5 plastic rib from Mud Tools or similar
Wood tool for trimming wet clay
Students will need a couple of different types of tools for trimming. We recommend:
One or two 8" ribbon tools from the 8R series of Kemper ribbon tools
At least one heavier trim tool from the FW series of trim tools
Also bring:
An apron to protect clothing (if desired)
A hand towel
Refund and cancellation policy:
Session classes require a 10 day notice for a refund minus 5% for processing fees that we cannot recover.
For classes with a waitlist, we will refund you up to 24 hours before class if we can fill your spot, but this is not guaranteed.
In this case there will be a 15% cancellation fee to cover our time.
