Frequently asked questions


Q: How do I sign up for classes at Vallejo Clay Workshop?
A: You can sign up for classes at Vallejo Clay Workshop by visiting our website and clicking the “Classes” link on the homepage or in the menu.  The classes are described in detail along with pricing. Enrollment dates for courses are always announced on the home page.

 

Q: How much do classes cost?

A: 8 week classes cost $420, our one-off classes (such as our Make Two Mugs class) cost $75, and Clay Play is $20.

Q: What materials are provided for classes?
A: All materials needed for one-off classes are provided. This includes clay and tools. Projects are fired by staff and can be picked up at the studio, usually within a month. For 6 and 8 week courses students need to provide their own tools and can purchase additional clay outside of their free allotment. Glaze and firings are provided, additional firing space can be purchased outside of the free allotment. You can get more information on our course info page.

Q: When can I pick up the pottery I made in a class?

A: You will be notified vua email when your work is ready for pickup. Pickup hours are Tues + Wed, 5-9 PM, Thurs 2-6 PM, and Sat 12-4 PM. You can also make an appointment to pick up at at time that works for you. Pottery must be picked up within 10 days of pickup notification.

 

Q: If I miss a class during my course, can I have a make-up class?

A: There are no make up classes for people enrolled in courses. Students have access to open studio hours where they can work to catch up with the class.

 

Q: I have to miss a class I enrolled for, can I have a refund or can you reschedule me?

A: For our one-off classes, you can receive a full refund up to 5 days before class. We do not reschedule you, you will need to sign up for a new class. 6 and 8 week classes require a 10 day notice for a refund. For classes with a waitlist, we will refund you up to 24 hours before class if we can fill your spot, but this is not guaranteed. In this case 15% cancellation fee to cover our time.


Q: What ages are allowed to take classes at Vallejo Clay Workshop?
A: 6 and 8 week courses are open to adults 18 years of age only. Clay Play is open to people 12 and up, younger people may enroll with an adult. Other one-off classes are open to people 14 and up, younger people may enroll with an adult.

Q: Can I access the studio during open studio hours and make something?

A: Open studio hours are for students who are enrolled in our 6 and 8 week courses only.

Q: Do you offer membership?

A: We do not offer membership at this time but will in the near future.

Q: Can I schedule a private class with a group?

A: Yes, you can schedule a group class for up to 10 people on our classes page.

Q: Can I schedule a private class with just myself?

A: No, private classes for individuals are not available at this time.

​

Q: Can I fire something that I made at home or at another studio?

A: We can provide firing services on a limited basis to people in the community and turnaround times depend on our current firing schedule. You must know what type of clay you have and the firing cone temperature.
