Vessels with Purpose: Creating collections through design
October 6- November 10
In this class we will continue to build on refining our pinching, coil, and slab proficiency and combining these techniques to create functional and purpose-driven vessels. We will have weekly projects aimed at using our skills to create more complex forms such as a flower box, lidded vessels, and a cake plate. We will also explore more avenues into surface design and making our own stamps for adding texture to our pieces.
This class is for students who have some experience in clay and are comfortable with the basic language and techniques of handbuilding.
With your registration, you will receive access to a live demonstration for that week's lesson starting at 6:30 sharp, after which class will stay live until 7:30. In case you miss a class or would like to review, these classes will be recorded and available for 30 days after the end of the course. You will also receive an occasional recorded instructional video with further information about projects.
There will be a private Facebook page for class where you can share work, ask questions, and receive feedback.
If you are local you will need to come to the studio to pick up your materials. You will be provided with a board to work on, soft foam for delicate projects, plastic to keep projects damp, and clay. You will be scheduled to come into the studio at the end of the session to glaze your work. You may purchase your own tool kit or borrow one from the studio, there is a $25 deposit to borrow a kit.
