Creating Functional Wares with Handbuilding is a 6 session course designed to give participants a chance to explore handbuilding techniques through pinching, coiling, and working with slabs. Students will deepen their knowledge about clay properties and character through hands-on demonstrations by an instructor and  suggested and self-guided projects.  Students will focus on making fuctional pottery such as mugs, bowls, vases and also tackling more advanced creations such as pitchers and butter dishes.

The class comes with a bag of clay, access to a slab roller, banding wheels, and some specialized tools. Additional clay can be purchased at the studio. Students will also have access to the studio during Open Studio hours.

Students will need to bring their own tools, apron (if desired) and a hand towel.

This class is a hybrid of both beginners and more advanced students.

Open to people 18 years old and up.
