Instructor: Sara Kagan-Real

This hands-on 4 session course is an introduction to wheel throwing with a focus on the fundamental techniques of wheel throwing: wedging, centering the clay, opening the well, and raising walls.  We'll explore the proper hand positioning, pressure control, and how to use basic pottery tools effectively.

Throughout this course, you will be guided step by step, provided expert demonstrations and personalized attention to help you develop your pottery skills.

We'll also cover essential topics such as  trimming and glazing, giving you a well-rounded understanding of the pottery process from start to finish. You'll gain insights into the properties of clay, firing, and the transformative nature of glazes.

This class includes clay and access to Open Studio hours. Students will need to provide their own tools, apron, and hand towel.
